A good topic sentence
Is a complete sentence with a subject, a verb, and a controlling idea
Is neither too general nor too specific. It states clearly what the main idea of the paragraph is but does not include specific details
Is usually the first sentence in the paragraph
A good concluding sentence
Signals the end of the paragraph
Summarizes the important points briefly or restates the topic sentence in different words
For Example:
Beaches are fun in summer and in winter. In summer, you can swim and do many other water sports. If you don’t like water sports, you can play beach games or relax on the warm sand. In winter, beaches are less crowded, so they are good places for solitary walks. Also, on a clear winter night, nothing is more fun than sitting with a group of friends around a big bonfire, talking, laughing, and singing. All year round, a beach is a place to have fun.
Beaches differ in various parts of world. Thailand has miles of empty beaches. They are beautiful, clean, and uncrowded, even in summer. You can spend the whole afternoon on a beach and not see another person. In Japan, on the other hand, the beaches are very crowded. You can hardly find a place to sit down at the more popular japanese beaches. The beaches in Northern Europe differ in another way. The water is cold, so most people go to the beach only to sunbathe. Along the French Rivers the beaches are rocky, not sandy as they are on tropical islands. Each type of beach-empty or crowded, sandy or rocky- has its own special qualities to enjoy.
People of all ages have fun at beaches. Young children love to splash in the water, jump in the waves, and play in the sand. They happily dig holes, fill buckets, and build sand castles all day long. Teenagers enjoy active water sports such as surfing, jet skiing, and boardsailing. They also like to just “hang out” at the beach with their friends. Senior citizens have a good time at the beach, too. They take long walks along the water’s edge or simply relax and enjoy the sunshine. Indeed children, teenagers, and even their grandparents can have fun at a beach.
Perhatikan Hamburger ini. Hamburger ini terdiri dari BUN (roti) yang dibelah dua. Kita sebut saja TOP BUN dan BOTTOM BUN. Top bun atau belahan atas dapat dianalogikan dengan topic sentence, sementara belahan bawah disamakan dengan concluding sentence. TOP and BOTTOM BUN mengikat isi hamburger yang dapat kita lihat sebagai supporting sentences atau pengembangan dari paragraph.
Attention: The topic sentece should not be too broad (general) and too narrow (specific)

American food is terrible
TOO SPECIFIC TOPIC SENTENCE:
American food is tasteless and greasy because Americans use too many canned frozen, and prepackaged foods and because everything is fried in oil and butter.
GOOD TOPIC SENTENCE:
American food is tasteless and greasy
Every good paragraph has coherence. Coherence is achieved by
Repeating key nouns frequently.
Using pronouns consistently.
Using transition signals to show the relationship of one to idea to the next.
Stating your ideas in some kind of logical order.
Transition signals can be transition phrase, conjunctions adverbs, coordinating conjunctions, subordinating conjunctions, prepositions, adjectives, or nouns. Each type of transition signal is punctuated differently.

i want to writing about Care and maintenance of machine tools
Machine tools are manufactured with high precision and are, therefore, expensive and sensitive. They must be handled carefully in order to give good and long service.
1. Don’t start a machine, of which the operation isn’t known. Damage to the machine as well as accidents may occur.
2. Oil all hand lubricating points daily. Poor lubrication causes early wear.
3. Before starting the work, check whether all levels are in the proper position.
4. Protect the guideway from foreign materials i. e. chips, other guideways will soon wear out, thus resulting in inaccuracy of work.
5. Bearings mustn’t be allowed to run more than with body temperature.
6. The electric motor must be protected from dust and moisture. In case of any break-down, the motor has tobe switched off and a report has to be made immediately.
7. Clean the machines frequently. Don’t use compressed air as the air will force dust and foreign bodies into the guideways.
8. Pay attention to the posters displayed for accident prevention.

i want to explain about Turning processes ;
The various shapes of turned parts are obtained by different turning processes. The processes of machining from the outside are known as “outside turning” and from the inside as “Inside Turning”. The workpieces are given cylindrical shape by longitudinal turning, plane surfaces by facing or transversal turning , tapers by taper turning , profiles by profile turning and threads by thread cutting.

I want to write about Vernier Caliper .
Vernier Caliper is a instrument of mecanic with accurately.
The function of vernier caliper is outside diameter measure, inside diameter measure, and inside dimension measure or height from material.
Vernier caliper has 2 scale measure. The scale division is prominent scale and nonius scale.
The other name of vernier caliper is ingsut ruller, sketmat, etc.
The founder name “Pierre Vernier”.

The following instructions have to be observed while grinding ;
1. The grinding wheel should run against the cutting edge.
2. The feed pressure should not be too much.
3. In case of wet grinding plenty of coolant should be used.
4. Concave grinding of the clearance face should be avoided.
5. Cutting angles should be tested with the grinding gauge.
6. Grinding wheels, which are untrue running or greasy, should be dressed with a wheel dresser.
7. Safety precautions should be observed.

A topic sentence tells what topic the paragraph is going to discuss. So when it is too general then you will have difficulties in developing it. Misalnya ya: kamu menulis Exercise is healthful. Selanjutnya kamu bingung, apa yang mau diteruskan, karena topic sentence tersebut too general atau too broad. Berbeda kalau kamu mulai dengan: Jogging is healthful for several reasons. Selanjutnya kamu punya ide bagaimana kelanjutannya.
Sebaliknya bila topic sentence bila dibuat too specific/ too narrow, maka susah juga dikembangkan karena sudah detail. Misalnya: There are always a lot of dishes after a party. Berbeda dengan: Doing dishes with my roommate after a party can be as much fun as the party itself.
Too narrow/specific topic sentence: Jakarta parking meters have a parking limit of 30 minutes.
DIscussible: The parking in our city should be improved in order to increase business.
Too narrow: It is estimated that 20 % of Japanese marriages are arranged.
Discussible: In Japan there are two types of marriage.
Too broad/general: Digital cameras take photos
Discussible: Digital cameras have several advantages over film cameras.
Too broad: A good education is the basis of a good life.
Discussible: You have to know standard English to get a good job.

I want to write about Maintenance of turning tools ;
Turning tools are to be stored in such a way that the cutting edges don’t get dameged. Unnecessary frequent regrinding results in waste of time and expensive material.
After long use, the cutting edge loses its sharpness and becomes blunt. Blunt edge causes heavy friction resulting in heat and rough surface finish. However, one shouldn’t wait until the edge becomes totally blunt before regrinding.
The tool will first be ground on a rough wheel and then finished on a fine wheel. It’s advantageous to use a cup wheel for grinding. During finish-grinding the permissible angles on the cutting edge must be observed.
When grinding cemented carbide tools, the shark will be first ground on a wheel suitable for the material of the shark and the carbide tip will then be ground on a carborundum wheel.

In Turning operations for the determination of the cutting speed, the following points have to be observed ;
1. Material of workpiece. Hard material develop more heat than soft ones, while cutting off chips. Therefore, hard materials have to be machined at lower speed.
2. Material of the turning tool. Cemented carbide stands more heat than high-speed steel and for the reason a higher cutting speed can be selected.
3. Cross section of chips. While cutting thin chip (Finishing operation), the cutting speed can be higher than while cutting thick chips ( roughing operation). as large chips develop more heat than small ones.
4. Cooling. A higher cutting speed can be selected when using coolants during the turning process.
5. Design of machine. A heavy machine has the capacity to maintain a higher cutting speed than light one. The machine must be equipped in such way that the selected cutting speed can be actually set.

we have been study about Paragraph, but sometimes i still confuse about it.
The first time i really don’t know how to makes good paragraph?
and then the result i got small value. sometimes My sentences didn’t complete. For example Sentences forgot to put a verb, and a subject. It’s makes me lazy to write again and again, but now i know it’s easy if i always exercise to makes it’s get a good paragraph.
I hope if I already study it. I can makes a good paragraph.

Machining operation with machine tools .
The parts to be manufactured are usually called workpieces. These workpieces are initially given rough shape by non-cutting operations (forging, Casting, etc), keeping just enough material allowance for machining. Generally, greater accuracy in dimension as well as better surface qualityis achived by machining, than by non-cutting methods.
Various types of machines .
The removal of material is possible either by manual or machinery process with the help of tools.
Manually the job is done by hand chisels, files or saws. In case of machining the material is removed by positive control of the tool or workpiece in motion.
Machines normally can produce not only finished cylindrical or plane parts ,but also threaded parts, gears or parts of any shape.
Since these machines necessarily function with tools, they are designated as “Machine Tools”, which are distinguished under different names, such as, turning machine, drilling machine, planing mchine, milling machine and grinding machine.

Sometimes, I still confuse how to make a good paragraph. Now, I can reduce it to meke clearly. After I have read your article i think a topic sentence should not too general and specific. Because it is a function for supporting for specific sentence sentence, but it is for thesis statement for general sentence. I really want to understand about topic sentence. It contains of complete thought. for that, I really eager to write more and more, and I can explain specific or details explanation about it.

The steps how to make rubber:
1. First, we should choose the good rubber tree which can produce the good rubber.
2. Then, we can cut a little part of the rubber tree’s stem and hang an empty cup which is used for filling the latex from rubber tree.
3. After that, we can take the cup which has been filled by the latex.
4. Then, we can collect all the latex and make it smooth likes a piece of paper.
5. We take piece by piece of that latex paper and dry it under the sunshine.
6. Then. the latex has already dried and we can stack them.
7. The rubber has been made and it can be sold.
